Craig Pruscha, an active public and community service leader, is the newest member of the Oconomowoc Parks and Recreation Commission. The Oconomowoc Common Council approved his appointment at its March 1 meeting.
Pruscha is the owner and president of The Northmen Group, of Oconomowoc. The Northmen Group, a parent company, houses Northmen Surgical, an orthopedic surgical distributorship, and two smaller marketing and promotion companies.
Locally, Pruscha has served on the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Community Development Authority. He has been a Rotarian off and on for over 15 years and served on the board of directors for the Oconomowoc chapter. Pruscha also serves on the board of directors for Lad Lake/St. Rose Center, of Milwaukee, and Moonlit Movies, Inc., having been one of its three co-founders six years ago.
Other nonprofit work on his curriculum vitae includes serving as a promotional event coordinator for multifarious events for over twenty years with some venues exceeding 25,000 attendees; managing a 400-bed homeless shelter; acting as a special projects manager for the Capitol Area Food Bank, in Austin TX.; coaching junior high football, and teaching martial arts to at-risk youth.
His professional background includes sales, marketing, public relations, and advertising for firms in Wisconsin, Texas, Washington D.C., and Florida.
Pruscha was born and raised here in the Lake Country area. He is a fourth-generation Wisconsinite and son of Calman S. Pruscha, who served Oconomowoc as an orthopedic surgeon for over 25 years at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. Pruscha lives with his two-and-a half-year-old son, Calman Jr. He fills the eighth seat on the commission.
Other members of the commission, which meets the second Monday of each month, are Joseph Moroni (chair), Scott Antonneau, Kiara Caldwell, alderman Michael Miller, alderman Cathleen Slattery, Bruce White, and Charlie Shaw.
